The Strasburg Rail Road offers Steam Engine Rides. The even have a dinning car and you can enjoy a meal while traveling. You can board a train that takes you through the beautiful countryside. The weekend we went they had a special activity and Thomas the Tank Engine was there. That offered special shopping and activities for the kids all related to The Little Blue Engine. What a delight to see Jace's face when Thomas pulled into the station!
About Strasburg Rail Road:
Strolling through the historic East Strasburg Station and the neighboring town of Strasburg, exploring the engines and rail cars up-close and riding beautifully restored trains are so much fun that you'll almost forget that you're immersed in a richly educational experience.
What an enjoyable day. Even with the crowds of the event it was wonderful. Everyone at the Railroad (staff and visitors) was courteous and friendly. We enjoyed watching the trains and their cars pull in and out of the station. I think we were all amazed at how large the Steam Engine was! Our tour though the country side was filled with the Conductor's stories about the land. The kids really enjoyed watching and listening. The 45 minute train ride was a perfect amount of time for little guys to sit still. The train station had shops and snacks. While we rode we talked to the kids about how 'way back when' this was one of the major ways to travel. They were really surprised that people used to eat and sleep on the trains.
Twitter and Facebook too. If you missed Thomas the Tank this time around don't worry he will be back in September and November again!
