MOMumental by Jennifer Grant Book Review #WIN
MOMumental: Adventures in the Messy Art of Raising a Family by Jennifer Grant is a book about motherhood. In the book Grant shares her adventure in finding her place as a parent. I could totally relate to the stories she told about her family. It was easy to see her love for her children on the pages and her desire to be a good Mom. Parenthood isn't easy and Grant definitely doesn't imply that. Instead she shares how she learned to value what was really important.Additional information:
One mom’s humorous and candid memoir shows would-be supermoms how to create a realistically balanced family life without losing their minds.
A longtime former writer for the Chicago Sun-Times and now a columnist for the Chicago Tribune, Jennifer Grant is no stranger to the common reader. MOMumental is a foray into the enormously amusing, creative, and taxing process of raising a family and a starkly honest memoir that mothers everywhere can identify with. With narrative that is chock-full of humorous, poignant stories drawn from her everyday adventures as a mother and wife, Grant presents an entertaining and inspirational book that will give readers uncommon insights about being an intentional parent.
About the Author:
Jennifer Grant is mother to four children and author of Love You More: The Divine Surprise of Adopting My Daughter (2011). For more than a decade she wrote for papers in the Sun-Times newsgroup. Currently she freelances for the Chicago Tribune and is a regular contributor to her.meneutics, Christianity Today magazine's blog for women. Grant is a Wheaton College graduate who received her master's in English and Creative Writing from Southern Methodist University. She lives outside of Chicago, IL.My thoughts:
I found this book to be a delightful read. They way Grant shares her story (weaved with tales of her kids) and her growth as a parent was something I could relate to. I find as I age I am starting to notice what matters most in life. Family and our values are now number one. In the introduction she tells how she would watch her neighbor that seemed to have it all together. I know I'm always picking my friends brains for ideas and thoughts on how to raise my crazy bunch so I just giggled at that chapter. It is a book about keeping it 'real' in the areas of Parenthood and raising children.
