I just finished reading the book The Vow. The story of Kim & Krickitt Carpenter. This book is the bases of the new movie with Rachel McAdams & Channing Tatum. While the movie and the book have some similarities from what I've heard they are quite different. So I haven't seen the movie yet, not sure if I'll take the plunge or wait for Netflix (I'll probably wait, it is impossible to find a sitter for 3 kids anymore!) This book is a story of a couple meeting, falling in love, marrying and then suffering a terrible life changing accident. The book is written from Kim's (the husband) point of view. He tells of their romance and love of God that brings them together. The book focuses on two people who get married and who take that role serious. There was no going back on that commitment, no matter what happened in their lives. I have to say in a time where marriages often seem like 'throw aways' this was a surprisingly refreshing attitude. While Kim's wife Krickitt loses her memories of meeting, dating and marrying she also is committed to God and the vows she made. The couple makes an incredible journey back to one another. It can only be God's hand working with both of them. Additional Information:
The Vow traces actual events from the 1990s, when Kim and Krickitt Carpenter met, fell in love and married. Just 10 weeks later, the couple survived a terrible car wreck with Krickitt awakening in the hospital married to a stranger. The accident had claimed 18 months of her memories, including all recollection of Kim.
With Kim committed to his marriage vows and Krickitt maintaining her strong Christian faith, even if recent memories were gone, the couple began the long road to a rebuilt relationship, choosing to fall in love again and capping that with a second wedding ceremony and renewal of their vows almost three years later.
My thoughts:
This is a great book. I think this should be on every engaged couples' required reading list. Frankly most people don't realize how hard marriage will be and the commitment they are jumping into. When you stand before God and your family and friends you are saying you are in this for the long run. It is a real commitment and not something to be taken lightly. This book inspired me to focus on my vows I made when I married twelve years ago and re-commit to them.

It sounds like a great romance novel. I always love to find a good book to just sit down & get lost in. No matter what goes on during your day, you can always pick up a great book & escape it. I have a feeling this is a great book!

I have seen and been wanting to watch The Vow for a good while now and still haven't!!! Also my sister told me about the book, so since i'm unable to pay for a movie ticket, dvd, etc. I'd love to be able to at least read the book! Love the plot of the book/movie. sounds awesome! Thanks!
