Book Review: The Entrepreneurial Mom's Guide to Running Your Own Business
I don't know if your like me but I often dream of starting a business and watching it grow into something successful. I think of that Mom that started the Baby Einstein movies and how her simple concept was sold to Disney for big bucks. Why can't I do that. Well the thing is I can do that but I don't want to jump feet first. I've never started, ran or owned a successful business and when I finally take the plunge I'd like to think I did all the research I could. In Kathryn Bechthold's book The Entrepreneurial Mom's Guide to Running Your Own Business she starts off sharing about her first big flop. Through that failure she learned many lessons that she was able to bring to her additional businesses. This book not only shares about things that will hurt your business it also gives you the tools to start a business and see it grow successfully. From working your website to time management Bechthold has tips and tools to help you build a successful business.

Serial entrepreneur Kathryn Bechthold knows firsthand what it’s like to juggle the responsibilities of starting a business with raising a family. The original founder of The Mompreneur Magazine and The Mompreneur Networking Group is sharing her expertise in her new book, The Entrepreneurial Mom’s Guide to Running Your Own Business.
Written in a tone one might expect to hear when chatting with a girlfriend over coffee, Kathryn takes an honest approach to the rigours of being a busy mom and entrepreneur. Her practical how-to guide outlines exactly what women need to know to start their own business, including the importance of developing proper business and marketing plans, hiring and managing a team, locating funding for the venture, and of course, the all important question of finding that elusive work-life balance.
As four out of five business in Canada are started by women, The Entrepreneurial Mom’s Guide is a timely directive for anyone who has a great idea they believe could be a viable business opportunity and for mompreneurs looking to take their business to the next level. At the outset, Kathryn asks women some important questions: Am I spending time growing my business to become more profitable? Am I energized by what I am doing? Do I remember to act reasonably when I discipline my children? Do I get much time to invest in my marriage or relationships outside of my business?
The Entrepreneurial Mom’s Guide to Running Your Own Business is a practical, kick-start tool for any mom who endeavours to start and run the successful business (and family!) of her dreams. A CD-Rom is included with sample business plan, checklists, tools and resources to get you started.
Kathryn Bechthold, wife and a mom of two children, is an award-winning skinned knee kisser and boogeyman chaser, and lives in Calgary, AB, Canada. Having seen the highs and lows of being entrepreneurial, Kathryn is able to speak to the real needs of the entrepreneurial mom, relate to the lack of sleep, the mommy guilt, the lack of money in the first years of business and that husband who continues to suggest you get a "real job.”
