Our family has a real thing for Sweet Potatoes, so this is what I did for my four babies during the years:

Scrub about 3 or 4 sweet potatoes and bake at 450 degrees F. for 40 to 50 minutes, testing with a fork for desired softness. Allow to cool. Peel, then out in food processor, adding vegetable cooking juices, milk, or a bit of apple juice.

I also suggest you can use a potato masher to have it more textured, or a Magic Bullet! lol.

I like this recipe from Martha Stewart:

1 ounce skinless, boneless chicken breast
    1 medium new potato, quartered
1 small carrot, peeled, trimmed, and cut into 1/2-by-2-inch sticks; or 5 green beans, trimmed; or 3 medium white mushrooms, wiped clean
1 cup homemade or low sodium canned chicken stock

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine chicken, potato, choice of vegetable, and chicken stock. Cover, and cook for 10 minutes.
Remove chicken from pan and puree in a blender with a little stock, until smooth. Transfer to a small bowl. Puree remaining vegetables and stock until smooth. Will keep frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

1 fresh ripe peach, peeled and chopped
1 fresh ripe pear peeled and chopped
½ cup fresh blueberries if in season
2- 3 tablespoons rice cereal or greek yogurt

I like to steam fruit into a small saucepan for 3 to 4 minutes until soft. Puree in a bullet and stir in the baby rice while hot. If using yogurt add when cooled.

Makes really yummy popsicles for older kids (and adults) as well!

I love making my daughter’s baby food, and I would love to make it with a Magic Bullet!!! Here’s a really simple recipe that packs in the vitamins and tastes good!

    Sweet Potato Pumpkin Puree

1 sweet potato (the dark orange are best, but any will do)
1 small pumpkin (pie pumpkin would be best!)
    water
    apple juice (if desired)
    cinnamon (if desired)

    1. wash and PEEL the sweet potato (extra protection from
    pesticides and such!)
    2. Cut into pieces
    3. wash and cut the pumpkin into large chunks
    4. Use a steamer or a large pan to steam the sweet potato and
    pumpkin
    5. Put the steamed veggies into a blender
    6. Add some of the water you steamed them in so that you retain
as many vitamins as possible (can add apple juice in
addition to the water, if desired)
    7. Blend until very smooth
    8. Cool and serve!

You can sprinkle a bit of cinnamon in this if you want, but I prefer not to introduce that to my baby yet. My daughter loves this recipe as is!!!

I always like using fruits and veggies that are in season and being eaten by everyone else anyway. So around fall time, "pumpkin pie" baby food can be awesome. Just puree cooked pumpkin, sprinkle in some cinnamon and/or nutmeg (added benefit of exposing them to some basic spices early on), and voila! If you want to add some sweetness, puree some apple, too. Yum. Then just put it in ice cube trays, freeze it, and store the cubes in plastic bags or bowls to pull out a serving at a time.

    Beets - Basic Purée

1 bunch of fresh beets, golden beats have a milder flavor

    1. Wash then peel the beets (be sure to cut off the tops.) and then cut the beets into small chunks
    2. Place chunks into a steamer pan with just enough water visible through the steamer basket. You may also boil them in a scant amount of water if you prefer.
    3. Steam until tender
    4. Do not reserve any left over water to use for thinning out the beets as Nitrates may seep into the cooking water
    5. Place into Magic Bullet begin pureeing.
    6. Add water as necessary to achieve a smooth, thin consistency.

You can cook the greens and serve like spinage. Also add some apple or pear to sweeten the beets

Chicken stew has always been a favorite in our home and is a great way to hide all of the vegetables that my children would normally not eat. It is made with:

1 Cut up Fryer (boiled with skin and bones removed)
    6 carrots
    6 potatoes (skinned and diced)
    2 c. cabbage
    1 c. Spinach
    1 c. peas
    1c. corn
    1c. Celery (diced)
    4c. Organic Chicken Broth
Cook about four hours on med heat.
For my babies I spoon out vegetables and chicken with just enough broth to make a medium consistency and place into a blender and blend at medium speed for two minutes.
They love the taste without knowing that they are eating the vegetables that they would otherwise not have eaten.

Thank you so much for the chance to win.

My daughter is an older baby, but refusing solids of late....we did find out that she loves the smoothies that my son and I make!

    - 1 container of whole milk baby yogurt (we use YoBaby)
    - milk
    - banana
    - ice cubes (less for soupier, more for thicker)
    - your choice of additional fruit: kiwi, strawberries, peaches (canned or fresh), peeled apple or pear.

    Blend and enjoy!

I don't necessarily recommend blueberries for this...it makes it kinda stringy/harder to swallow.

    Tiny Tummy Thanksgiving:

Even little ones love to celebrate thanksgiving. Unfortunately they’re often too small to dig into the food on the grown-ups table. This baby food recipe blends the flavors of Thanksgiving in an easy to swallow style.

    1. Thoroughly wash a sweet potato. Puncture the potato with a fork, wrap, and microwave 5-6 minutes. Potato should be tender. The sweet potato can also be baked if you so choose.

    2. Peel the potato. (The skin should pull away from the sweet potato easily.)

    3. Cute the sweet potato into cubes.

    4. Place diced sweet potato into Magic Bullet Express.

    4. Add 2-4 ounces of apple juice (or your child’s favorite – pear also works well).

    5. Puree the sweet potato in your Magic Bullet Express until it is the consistency of smooth applesauce.

    6. Mix in some oatmeal cereal or pasteurized vanilla yogurt until desired consistency is reached.

    Dish it out and enjoy!

    Makes 2-3 Servings.

My son love anything yellow or orange, so I cooked carrots, sweet potatoes and squash and pureed them.
Sometimes I even mixed several together. He loved it!

I used to blend together cooked carrots, slightly cooked raisins, and a bit of apple sauce. She loved it.

It would be wonderful to win the Magic Bullet. I kind find so many uses for one today. Thanks for the chance.

    Sweet Potato Custard

1 cup mashed cooked sweet potato
    1/2 cup mashed banana
    1 cup evaporated skim milk
    2 Tbs packed brown sugar

    2 beaten egg yolks
    1/2 tsp salt
    Nonstick cooking spray, as needed
    1 Tbsp sugar
    1 tsp ground cinnamon

Get out a bowl and add the sweet potato and banana to it. Make sure both are well mashed. Add the milk and stir until combined. Add the brown sugar, egg yolks and the salt and mix well.

Add the mixture to a 1 quart casserole dish that has been sprayed with the cooking spray.

Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small cup or bowl and sprinkle it over top of sweet potato mixture.

Bake at 325 for 45 minutes. Your custard is done when a knife or toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

    3 apples
    crushed graham crackers.

I boiled apples until tender then added to a blender with crushed graham crackers. Blend until pureed and crackers soften within a few minutes for easy swallowing.
