Book Review: The Lunar Antics Presents: Boy I'd Hate To Be Made Out Of That Stuff

Sunday, January 03, 2010

My fourteen year old has always had a love for books but it seems like the older she gets, it is harder and harder to find books that appeal to her.  I think in a way her age is a factor.  She is too old for kid books and yet now old enough for some adult books.  Also at school they have to take tests on books that they read, well this is only possible if the school has a test for these books.  In a way it really prevents them from exploring books that they love.

During the Christmas break we received the book "Boy I'd Hate To Be Made Out Of That Stuff".  Since she has been caught up on her reading points, she picked this book up and just started reading it.  To my surprise, she absolutely loves it!  Every evening she will come and share with me on what she has read in this book and always tells me how fun it is.  It is laid out in comic book form which makes for a fun and easy read!  It is said that comic strips are great for developing a love for reading and I believe that study.  I usually have to nag my daughter to read certain books and here she just walks by and picks this book up out of the blue.

From the unique perspective of these Earth-challenged inhabitants, The Lunar Antics Presents skewers humanity in a way no other terrestrial-based comic strip can.  Learn why humans like big lies rather than little lies, why Earthlings go for "death sticks"-and charge credit cards with 23% interest! "You Earthlings can't be that stupid," exclaims Zeno.  "I mean, give us a little credit," cries the astonished Zed in between paroxysms of laughter.

This book is fantastic for adults and kids alike.  As I said, my daughter has yet to put this book down and loves the humor behind it all!  The Lunar Antics Presents can be purchased online for $17.95 and you can even get a signed copy at no additional cost which is fantastic!  I know my daughter loves having her books signed and a lot of people do enjoy that personal touch.  This book isn't released until January 18, 2010 but no need to worry.  They do have books that are ready to ship right now!
